\n\tThe need to be understood is one of the highest human needs, but many people don’t care or just don’t make an effort to find out how others really feel. To show empathy is to identify with another person’s feelings.<\/em> It is to emotionally put yourself in the place of another. <\/o:p><\/p>\n

Most experts in communication, management and self-development mention the importance of empathy – really understanding the other person's position and feelings. Being able to 'step back', and achieve a detachment from our own emotions is essential for effective, constructive relationships.<\/p>\n

Many people have difficulty with empathy and with expressing real feelings. I think this is a shame. Just imagine the difference you could make if you truly get to know people and understand how they feel. It could really set you apart from the rest, and you’d start giving great value that many others don’t give.<\/o:p><\/p>\n
