This pair of words often causes confusion. The best thing to do here is to eliminate the other person and see what’s left, as in these examples:<\/p>\n

My boss gave the muffins to John and I.<\/em>
\n\t(Here you are saying your boss gave the muffins to I. This can’t be right.)<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Please come with Mary and I to the cinema.<\/em>
\n\t(Here you are saying please come with I. Wrong again!) <\/o:p><\/p>\n

Here are some correct examples:<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Please explain this to Don and me.
\n\tJames and I are going out to dinner.
\n\tGranny gave the cookies to Robert and me.<\/em><\/p>\n

Myself<\/strong><\/p>\n

Now, take a look at these examples of incorrect use of myself<\/em>:<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Please contact John or myself.
\n\tEmily and myself will be there.<\/em><\/o:p><\/p>\n

These cannot be right because you would not say Please contact myself, or Myself will be there.<\/em> <\/o:p><\/p>\n

More correct examples:<\/o:p><\/p>\n

The document must be signed by both Sally and me.
\n\tThe Chairman handed the presents to my partner and me.
\n\tMark and I will attend the meeting.
\n\tYour mum and I are so proud of you.
\n\tI am very proud of myself.
\n\tI’d like to speak for myself please.<\/em><\/p>\n
