Send/Take

Dear Shirley: Thank you for your newsletter. I need to know, when do we use "send" and "take". Also, do you send a person to the airport/home? Do you send an injured person to the hospital in an ambulance?
Cheers, Audrey

Shirley Says: Here's an extract from 'S' from my A-Z of Bloopers, Blunders, Common errors and Clichés.

Send/Take
If you send your children to school in the morning, you do not go with them.
If you mean that you drive them to school, then you should use the word take.
Use take when you are going to hand something to someone, or when you are asking someone to do the delivery.

Examples:
Please send your report by e-mail before Friday.
Will you please take me to the airport on Monday?
I must take these flowers to Mandy in hospital.
Please take this form to John in Accounts.
I need to take my daughter to school on my way to work tomorrow.

As for your other query, you go
in an ambulance
in a car
on the bus
on the MRT

I hope this is helpful.
