It was my honour to contribute to such a well-known and successful textbook as Communication for Business. I enjoyed writing the chapter on Oral Presentations for your 4th edition, and hope readers all over the world will find it useful.
I could be accused of being biased when I say how good Shirley's book is - because I have contributed to it! However, my small contribution (producing specimen LCCIEB examination questions) demonstrates one real strength of the book - Shirley's determination that all aspects are accurate, up-to-date and accepted by 'experts'. When this is combined with Shirley's very user-friendly style, her enthusiasm and her appreciation of the needs of her readers, the result is the best textbook of its type that anyone could buy.
Over the years, I have seen this book in numerous College staffrooms, evidence enough that it's been a firm favourite with tutors and students for a very long time. Shirley's commitment to Communication for Business is such that every edition has been excellent, but the 4th edition is superb! It sets a benchmark for business correspondence at a time when the written word is getting more and more casual because lots of office staff know no other way. If it helps just one secretary to fight against the boss who advocates 'redundancy by email', it will have done a wonderful job! Colleges offering secretarial/business courses cannot do without this latest edition.
